MP3 Players and Smart Phones seem to be common place as we seek out new ways to compact our technologies and attempt at making our lives more manageable.
Fact: MP3 devices at peak volumes are louder than chainsaws
While we can't change the wave of the future, Sonomax has designed a way to protect your hearing from the potential dangers incurred from these modern devices.
At Sonomax we love music as much as the next person, but we recognize some irrefutable statistics when its comes to MP3 player use.
Most music & entertainment devices employ generic ear pieces or ear buds. As a rule, they are not very comfortable and more importantly they do not deliver an acoustic seal that effectively blocks out ambient noise. Not only does this compromise the quality of the music, but it causes the wearer to raise the volume to compete with outside noise. The volume levels are almost always significantly beyond the limits of safety.
Fact: High Volume isn't the only factor when discussing the potential for Noise Induced Hearing Loss. Exposure time is just as important a factor to consider
High volume levels coupled with lengthy exposure time are the two dangers that when combined, can lead to irreparable hearing loss. For example, those who work out, on average, do so for at least an hour. Most people like to block out the noise around them, so that they can better focus on their workout. The end result is that MP3 players stay on high levels for a lengthy period of time, blasting toxic noise directly into the hearing canal.
Fact: You can lose your hearing after one lengthy exposure to toxic noise.
Noise induced hearing loss is accumulative; you may not realize you are losing it until you can no longer hear music the way you're accustom to.
