Sonomax Hearing Healthcare Inc., the Montreal eartechnology firm, is betting its self-fitting custom earpieces will be a hit in Vegas this week.

The company’s licensing team has lined up more than 20 meetings with major original equipment manufacturers at the Consumer Electronics Show, the world’s largest such event, taking place in Las Vegas from tomorrow through next Tuesday.

Those meetings are geared to start the process of selling a series of non-exclusive technology licences to a carefully chosen, limited number of highly successful consumer electronics, industrial and military companies representing a cross-section of multi-billion dollar vertical markets and subset product categories, according to Sonomax president Nick Laperle.

“All of our products and technologies have been validated, and we have now produced a game-changer in comfort, sound quality and hearing safety for all industries and companies whose products have an in-ear component,” the CEO said in a statement last week about the trademarked V4 Self-Fit System.

“Our technological breakthrough changes everything,” said Sonomax chief operating officer Adam Schwartz. “It makes us a world leader in sound isolation with a stable technology that is cost competitive, scalable for mass market consumption and whose breakthrough characteristic – the V4 automatic fitting system – enables any consumer to make a high-performing custom-fitted earpiece on-the-spot for themselves.”

Schwartz noted that, although the R&D team will continue to test and adjust over the next few months, the process they developed has now solved the only impediment to Sonomax’s expansion technology becoming ready for mass customization.
